New team updates (finally!)

Well I am officially back and with some new updates. I was quite pleased with the Red Claws as the new official name. I am anxiously waiting to find out what the colors and features of the logo look like. For everyone who sees this you should choose to follow us on twitter. If you go over and follow you'll notice that they've posted the date and information regarding the newly announced cheering tryout that are going to be held. Just a Reminder

Tonight is the night the new D-League team staff is going to be at DiMillo's raffling off prizes. The flier is in a post below.
I plan on sending in the questions tomorrow for the Q & A with Eric. If anyone has any questions for the staff feel free to post them soon so i can add them. I'm looking forward to hearing his responses and will post them as soon as I get them.
Also, I've noticed that this blog cuts off half the videos if you try viewing them with internet explorer. They work fine with mozilla. Not sure why that is but I'll look into it.

A Couple of Updates

I contacted one of the team's staff members about doing an e-mail Q & A with me and he has agreed! I will be sending in my questions tonight or tomorrow morning so if anyone has anything they'd like me to ask, leave a comment. Keep in mind there are obviously things he can't make public, but I'm sure he will answer anything he's allowed to. The Q&A will probably be posted sometime early next week, as he is generally very quick to respond.
Also, I have been emailed a picture of the Pierce jersey being raffled off Tuesday at DiMillo's (see previous blog entry), just incase anyone thought it was too good to be true. Unfortunately I cannot miss my class that night so I wont be able to attend. Anyway, here's the jersey.

DiMillo's Bayside with team staff

Looks like a good opportunity to meet some of this new team's staff, watch the Celtics game with die-hard fans (including ex assistant coach, Jon Jennings), and maybe even win an autographed jersey. I will have to arrive late but I should be able to make it there by game time!

Name the Team, win Celtics tickets?

It seems as though the ownership really wants to get the community involved with the team. They are leaving it up to the fans to vote for one of seven names. One of the voters will apparantly win two tickets to a Celtics playoff game. Score!
I am not overly impressed with the selections. I understand it has to be Maine related but we have some really lame symbols in Maine.

Beacons - What's the mascott going to be, a big lighthouse?
Crushers, Claws, Red Claws - Yeah I get it, we are known for lobsters. I'm hoping for green and white team colors, though.
Swarm - The site describes it as being related to our state insect: The Honey Bee. How intimidating that would be for opponents! I suppose if we went with more of a Mosquito theme I could deal with this one.
Traps - Just another lame lobster related name that offers no suggestion as to what the mascott could be.
Destroyers - Finally, something athletic sounding. Still creates the need for coming up with a mascott, however. This one is my pick.

So that's my two cents on the naming issue!
